FULCRUM MACHINE SHOP RIBBON CUTTING MARKS EXPANDED CAPABILITIES FOR MIDDLE PENINSULA COMPANY
Newport News, VA, February 2026 – Middle Peninsula aerospace defense company Fulcrum Concepts LLC celebrated the opening of its new fabrication facility in Newport News with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 15, 2026. The ceremony marked the completion of a major capital investment which adds increased machining capabilities for the Mattaponi company. Over 75 people gathered from Fulcrum Concepts, the City of Newport News, King & Queen County, Hampton Roads Alliance, Hampton Roads Workforce Council, and area partners in aerospace defense to officially commemorate the grand opening of the 7,490 sq. ft. facility.

“Fulcrum’s Machine Shop consists of state-of-the art CNC machines capable of handling a broad range of part sizes, complexities, and materials. With the addition of pallet pool automation, we’ve added high efficiency, lights-out production capabilities with fast pallet swaps and reduced cycle times,” shared Rachel Clark, Director of Manufacturing. “Beyond equipment, Fulcrum’s true mission advantage is our people. Our machining team brings more than 70 years of combined experience across CNC operations – our seasoned machinists are actively mentoring and training the next generation.”
With its headquarters located on the Middle Peninsula Regional Airfield (MPRA), Fulcrum has supported the US Defense Industrial Base and US allies for the past 17 years. As a leading provider of weapons system integration capabilities for the tactical aviation community and the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for the GAU-19B Gatling .50 caliber gun, Fulcrum’s investment in a new machining facility is not only an indication of company growth but also a representation of the company’s strong commitment to the U.S. armed forces and military veterans.
“The Fulcrum Machine Shop represents more than an expansion—it reflects an investment in employees, customers, and the region,” said Teresa Rinderer, Chief Operations Officer. “As our headcount grows, so does our commitment to employing local talent, especially veterans – currently, 36% of our team is comprised of military veterans that represent the Army, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy.”
Fulcrum Concepts has plans for continued growth in the Middle Peninsula and Hampton Roads region with expansions at the MPRA ongoing to accommodate demand in the US and international aerospace defense sector for Fulcrum’s products.
